The D. Pharma Second-Year students of KIIT School of Pharmacy participated in a hospital visit program on Date-17-03-2026 to Date-14-04-2026 at Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences as part of their academic curriculum for the subject Pharmacotherapeutics. The visit was organized to provide practical training and enhance students’ understanding through real-time patient case study exposure in a clinical setting. The Hospital visit was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Priti Murmu, Assistant Professor, KIIT school of Pharmacy. The primary objective of the program was to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical practice by familiarizing students with hospital-based pharmaceutical care, patient management systems, and pharmacovigilance activities. During the visit, the students were taken to various key departments of the hospital, including: 1. Outpatient Departments (OPDs): Students observed patient consultation processes, prescription patterns, and the role of healthcare professionals in diagnosing and managing diseases. This exposure helped them understand rational drug therapy and patient counselling practices. 2. Inpatient Departments (IPDs): In the IPDs, students gained insights into patient monitoring, medication administration, and treatment protocols followed for admitted patients. They also observed interdisciplinary coordination in patient care and the importance of accurate medication management. The students actively engaged with the hospital environment and gained valuable exposure to real-life clinical scenarios. The program significantly enhanced their understanding of pharmacotherapeutics and the practical application of pharmaceutical knowledge in patient care. In conclusion, the hospital visit to Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences was highly beneficial and contributed effectively to the academic and professional development of the students. Such practical training programs are essential for developing competent and responsible pharmacy professionals.
