About School of Pharmacy
“Health Care matters to some of us some of the time but public health is vital to all of us all the time”.

What is Pharmacy?
- Dispensing Medications: Pharmacists are responsible for dispensing prescription and over-the-counter medications to patients. They provide information on dosage, administration, potential side effects, and interactions with other drugs.
- Medication Management: Pharmacists work with healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate medication therapy. This may involve reviewing patient medical histories, monitoring drug interactions, and offering recommendations to optimize treatment outcomes.
- Patient Education: Pharmacists educate patients on the proper use of medications, potential side effects, and other relevant information. They may also provide advice on lifestyle changes and preventive measures.
- Compounding: In some cases, pharmacists may need to prepare customized medications, known as compounded medications, to meet specific patient needs. This could involve altering the form, strength, or ingredients of a medication.
- Drug Development and Research: Pharmacists are involved in the research and development of new drugs. They contribute to the discovery of new medications, study their effects, and assess their safety and efficacy.
- Regulatory Compliance: Pharmacists must adhere to legal and ethical standards related to the distribution and sale of medications. They ensure that prescriptions are valid, and they provide counseling to patients to promote safe and responsible medication use.
