4th National Pharmacovigilance Week 2024 was celebrated on 19th September, 2024 at KIIT school of Pharmacy with the aim to raise awareness about patient safety and promote a culture of reporting adverse drug reactions (ADRs). School of Pharmacy, a part of under Kalinga institute of medical sciences(KIMS) observed the week in this year with the theme “ Building ADR Reporting Culture for Patient Safety”
The basic objectives of this events to improve medication safety and highlights the important role of pharmacy professional in monitoring and reporting adverse drug reactions. By accelerating the culture of vigilance and reporting, the pharmacy community can be actively involved in the patient safety which ultimately improve the healthcare outcomes. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Prafulla Mohapatra, Director allied medical science.
The Guest Lecturer was delivered by Professor Mangala Charan Das, HOD, Pharmacology KIMS, Bhubaneswar. He discussed about the various type of adverse effects and events associated with rational and irrational use of drug molecules. He also highlighted how the pharmacy professional can deal with such type of adverse effect for getting better health care out comes.
Principal, school of Pharmacy concluded the programm with valuable guidance and also created an enthusiasm among the students and audience.
