The KIIT School of Pharmacy, KIIT Deemed to be University, successfully conducted Session 5of theKIIT Academic Empowerment Program (K-AEP) 2026 on 2 July 2026. The Faculty Development Programme featured an insightful lecture titled “Phytomedicines in Breast Cancer: From Bench to Bedside”, delivered byDr. Sanjeeb Kumar Sahoo, Scientist-G and Head, Nanomedicine Laboratory, Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar.
The programme commenced with the gracious presence and inaugural address of Prof. BiswaranjanBehera, Principal, KIIT School of Pharmacy. He warmly welcomed the distinguished speaker and the participants while emphasizing the significance of continuous academic enrichment, interdisciplinary research, and innovation in higher education.
During his lecture, Dr. Sahoo highlighted the latest advances in breast cancer research, focusing on the emerging role of phytomedicines, nanomedicine, and targeted drug delivery systems in improving cancer treatment. He elaborated on the translational journey of plant-derived bioactive compounds from bench to bedside, explaining how laboratory discoveries are being transformed into clinically relevant therapeutic interventions. His presentation provided valuable insights into the current landscape and future prospects of cancer therapeutics.
The session proved to be an enriching learning experience for all participants, offering a deeper understanding of recent innovations in breast cancer therapy and inspiring meaningful discussions on translational research.
